Meet your Tour Guides at The Historical Monument in the center of the Covington Square. The Guides will tell you how the legacy of Porterdale began in Covington. Guides will then lead your vehicle on a 3 mile Caravan into the adjoining Cotton Mill Village of Porterdale. The tour stops at several locations where tourists will have the opportunity to exit their vehicles for stories and to enter select locations.

About Our Tours
The "DAY" Caravan & Walking Tour begins in The Covington Square at the Historical Monument with a 30 minute introduction about the beginnings of Covington and how the adjacent Cotton Mill Village of Porterdale is connected to it all. Your tour guide will lead your vehicle on a 3 mile caravan into Porterdale. This 2.5 hr Multi-City "Day"caravan & walking tour gives you a bit of it all! Walking, Riding and opportunities to go inside select sites.

Listed on the Georgia National Historic Registry, The Covington/Porterdale Historic Caravan and Walking Tour is a 2 for 1 and makes this tour a must on your next Historic weekend getaway to Covington. We recommend that you stay in Covingtons Historic Bed & Breakfast 12 Oaks and for larger groups such as church and school groups that you consider the Historic Salem Camp Grounds. We will be happy to create a package for you.
The "Dusk" Tour is an adult (21 and over) evening caravan & walk through town that begins in The Historical Covington Square. The Tour Guides will then lead a caravan into the Haunted attached Mill Village of Porterdale. Upon arrival in Porterdale, Guests will be served Wine/Beer in Porterdales new Italian restaurant Milazzo's then head out on the Haunted Investigation. "Haunted History at Dusk" Is a lantern lit evening walk through town while enjoying the stories told by your experienced tour guides.There will be opportunities for you to talk about your own Haunted experiences and investigate any active energy that may be present on the night of your tour. Guests are encouraged to bring any paranormal detection devices they may have on tour with them.

Please note, History at Dusk is an evening out for Adults ages 21 and over. The Tour is approx. 3.5 hours depending on the level of activity detected and guest involvement. As a general rule of thumb, be prepared to hang with us for the evening! We want to make the most of your experience and would hate to cut things short should we detect any paranormal activity.

What is the cancellation policy?If there is heavy rain on a walking tour we will issue a rain check. Should you need to cancel we will issue a credit for you to take the tour within 6 months. You may also transfer your tour to another person as a gift if you cancel at least 24 hours in advance.

What do I need for your tour?You will need your own insured vehicle. We recommend you wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes for our walking and caravan tours. We will be riding and getting in and out of vehicles so your comfort would bring you a greater enjoyment of the sights. If you are perticularly sensitive to the sun then please bring an umbrella, sunblock, water and whatever else you may need to feel comfortable.

It's too hot!In response to feedback we received from other summer visitors, we moved our day tours up to 11:00 am. If you don't particularly care for the elements at all, then please take our 4pm Caravan Tour. You will not need to leave your vehicle for that particular riding tour.

Are you handicapped accessible?Absolutely! The 4pm Caravan Tour was created specifically for those that are unable or would not like to exit their vehicles. The 4pm caravan is a nice ride while listening to a tour guide talk. The Caravan Tour makes several stops at multiple Historic Sites. If you have a bus, your tour guide can step on to your Bus.

How many miles do I need to drive during your Caravan?The Covington to Porterdale Caravan is 3 miles from the Covington Square into Porterdale. Once the tour is in Porterdale expect to drive an additional 2-3 miles. The "COP" Covington, Oxford, Porterdale Caravan Tour is a ride from Covington to Oxford 7 Miles (Once the tour is in Oxford expect to drive an additional 3-4 Miles) The Tour then goes back to Covington 7 miles then into Porterdale 3 miles (Once in Porterdale expect to drive an additional 2-3 miles) Tourists on the "COP" tour should expect to drive approximately 30-35 Miles pending any detours. Its a awesome historic ride! The Haunted History at Dusk Tour is a 3 mile caravan into Porterdale then the remaining Portion of the tour is walking
